Due Dates

Module 3 is not going to be as firm on the due date. You can turn this in at any time before the end of the semester. If you would like extra credit for the class you can go to the SGD Events facebook page and enter into the Video Game Hero Video Contest. Go to Facebook. Search SGD Events (if you are not a member of the page, please send a request to be added). Then go to the Events tab and you will see the Contest. The requirements and Due Date are there.

Remote Server

It appears that the remote server is not allowing some students to log in. If this is you, please send me an email. You do not need to send one if you already have. This only started happening on Saturday. You should have been working to complete your assignments before Today when they are due. Currently, we are in our fall break at CPCC. ITS will most likely be unavailable to fix this issue until as late as Thursday. Because you have only missed two days of work due to this issue I will be extending the due date for Module 1 and 2 until Sunday, October 17th. No more extensions. There has been plenty of time to complete your assignments, one full day of work is not enough to miss doing your work on time. In order to receive this extension you will need to email me to let me know you are having trouble using the remote server. If I have not received an email by Tomorrow morning stating your inability to use the server, you will receive no extension. This is not to be harsh, it is only to make it clear that two months to do the first two modules has been more than enough time to complete these assignments, especially considering that 4 chapters of the book are not required and the introductory videos are barely more than watching him talk about After Effects. Thank you for your patience in resolving this issue and your understanding of the due dates.

Module 2

If you completed Module 1 this past week then you can move on to Module 2. Due to the fact that there have been Non-existant books and Technical Difficulties with After Effects Module 1's due date has been changed (check the calendar) to the same Due date as Module 2. October 10th. There will be no more extensions or wavers on book work. If you were one of the few who were able to complete Module 1 by the due date of September 11th, you will receive a 25% extra credit added to your Module 1 grade. This means, if you completed all 8 assignments and have met all requirements, you will receive a potential of 1000 points for Module 1 instead of 800.

Once again. There will be no more extensions or wavers except under extreme circumstances.

Remote Server

GOOD NEWS!!!

The remote server for accessing Adobe After Effects is up and running. Please follow the button labeled INSTRUCTIONS on the left side of the screen. It is very important that you follow these instructions EXACTLY. Failure to do so may result in your inability to use the software. ITS and myself are working hard to make the resources available on the remote server, but until then you will have to save all of your resources yourself before beginning work once you have logged in. Instructions for this are on the INSTRUCTIONS tab as well. Please watch ALL videos including the Additional Videos below the intitial setup instructions. Good Luck and email me if you have any questions.

ONLINE STUDENTS:
Due to the lack of most students' ability to use the software the book work for Week 1 - 3 will be waved. (ONLINE STUDENTS ONLY) A lot of the content in these chapters is redundant to what you are doing in the Basic Training Videos. If you have already completed them, submit them at the end of the module with the rest of your files and you will receive extra credit.

Withdrawal Dates

The last day to withdraw from the course (for future reference I hope none of you will need) is below.

Last Day To Withdraw: September 24th, 2010.

Syllabus

Please review the syllabus once again if you are an online student. The syllabus for in class students was incorrectly placed in this shell.

CS4 Program

I spoke with ITS today and we believe we have solved the issue. It will involve a remote server. It will take a few days to implement. In the meantime, take this opportunity to get ahead in your other classes. Please keep in mind that this class requires that you have Access to Adobe After Effects in some way. We will have the remote server up and running soon. You can purchase the software from Adobe (look for educational discounts) or you can use the labs. The lab hours will be posted at the beginning of the week next week. Monday, there will someone available all day for you so that you can work in the lab if you need to.

More details soon.

CS4 download

The link to the CS4 trial now takes you to a CS5 download. This will not be an issue until later in the class. For the first month of class, CS5 should be fine if you can install it. For those of you who can't I am working on this now. Please bear with me. If you do not have a 64bit operating system, please send me an email ASAP so I can take note of it and I will give you more details in response. I apologize for this issue and I am working to resolve the problem.
